Dr. Mona Fishbane

Mona DeKoven Fishbane is the director of the couples therapy training program at the Chicago Center for Family Health. She teaches the couples therapy course of the certificate program, and conducts a consultation group in couples therapy. She has also led ongoing consultation groups for therapists exploring their own families of origin.

Dr. Fishbane received her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 1979 from the University of Massachusetts and received a BA from Wellesley College. She has been a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Chicago, and has taught at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and at the Hebrew University Student Counseling Services in Jerusalem. She is an approved AAMFT supervisor and a member of the American Family Therapy Academy. Dr. Fishbane has lectured widely and published articles on the subjects of intergenerational family relationships and couples therapy. Her theoretical orientation is integrative, including object relations, intergenerational, relational, and narrative approaches. Dr. Fishbane is in private practice in Highland Park and Chicago, specializing in couples therapy and intergenerational family therapy.
